  Laserlipolysis is a procedure that uses laser energy and heat to melt the membranes of fat
cells. The laser also heats the surrounding blood vessels and tissue thus minimizing bleeding,
bruising and trauma. This means patients recover faster and have less pain and discomfort
from the procedure.

The procedure is commonly performed under local and tumescent anesthesia. A very small
cannula is introduced through a small 1 – 2 mm incision in the skin and into fat cell areas. The
tip of the laser fiber is placed through the cannula into the fatty tissue and then moved back
and forth fanning pattern. Fat cells are melted and the fatty oils are then removed from
beneath the skin.

Yes !!!!!  The combined procedures permanently melts the fat cells that are treated. Adults
do not produce new fat cells. When a person gains weight, that person’s fat cells simply
grow and expand.  People who gain weight after the procedure simply gain weight in fat
cells where the procedure was not performed.

How Many Treatments are Required ?  

Usually only one treatment is required. The session may lasts for 45 minutes to an hour
for each area treated.  This procedure is ideal for minor revisions or “ touch ups ”.   
Minor touch ups may be needed for resistant or difficult areas .

Maintenance

Cellulite is difficult and resistant to exercise, dieting and other activities. Any improvement
achieved with Velashape™ therapy will require maintenance treatments once monthly. Some
patients with good fat reduction and smooth contours may not require maintenance treatments.
